BLADE UPGRADE: 1TB Flash Storage
for 2012/Early 2013 Retina MBP
and 2012 iMacs

Originally, 768GB was the maximum internal Apple factory flash storage option for the Late 2012 iMac and Mid 2012/Late 2012/Early 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. MaxUpgrades is now offering a 1TB flash blade upgrade for those same models of Mac.

LARGE SEQUENTIAL TRANSFER TEST
We used AJA System Test to test file level sequential transfer speed using a 16GB test document.
SMALL RANDOM TRANSFER TEST
We used the range of 4K to 1024K blocks in the Standard Random test of QuickBench as a predictor boot volume 'house keeping' performance and a simulation of an application that does multiple small random transfers.
Again, RED graph bar means the fastest overall in Megabytes per Second.
INSIGHTS
The MaxUpgrades 1TB flash blade upgrade for 2012 iMac and 2012/early 2013 rMBP is as fast or faster than the factory flash blades for large sequential transfers and significantly faster for small random transfers.
At $495, it is an affordable way to expand the internal storage for (and extend the life of) your 2012 iMac 21" or 27". Ditto for the $499 price for the Mid 2012/Early 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 15" and $495 price for the Late 2012/Early 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 13". That is especially true for those of you who ordered your Mac with 128G, 256G, or 512G flash storage.
